Parent Support Advisor (PSA)

ESOL Assessment Info

Ms Chand is our parent support advisor. If you have any questions or would like any help you will find her every morning and after school outside the gates or by asking at the DWJS school reception.

Look out for drop-in coffee mornings and workshops.

Pupil and Family Worker

We are continuously assessing the needs of our pupils and familes and as a result have consciously invested in an additional member of staff to support or pupils and families. Mrs Cornelius joins our team and will be working with identified pupils across the school as a mentor, key adult and support worker for parents.

If you have any questions, concerns, would like some help or advice please contact Ms Chand or Mrs Cornelius. They have organised coffee mornings so far and will be holding another one in the very near future.

         Employment Preparation

Well done to all who attended and have since managed to find employment. This is a great achievement.

Target setting day - a huge success

The annual target setting day was held in October and was very successful. As well as it being an opportunity for you to meet teachers we were fortunate to have a number of external agencies visit. We hope you found them helpful. If you were unable to attend or would like further details please contact Ms Chand.

DS Catering also ran their food tasting sessions which proved very popular with many parents commenting on an improvement in school dinners and their joy at seeing a healthy range of food.

The health and community fair was organised by Ms Chand in the hall with external agencies representing key groups and sharing information to help parents and families. It was a very successful element to target setting day and enjoyed by all attending. The groups involved were:

-     Diabetes UK – incl. free cookery workshops (all day)

-     School Nurse (p.m.)
